Why does depression hurt so much? |
Whenever my parents scold, yell, or say bad things to me, they don't know how much it hurts. It makes me feel very depressed... it just drives all my motivations and my thoughts for the future away. I went through a similar thing of feeling very depressed and alienated when my parents scolded me and seemed alienated to themselves. I didn't even feel like I could talk to them. The best thing you can do is to talk to someone else--- a close friend, a teacher, a school counselor, or someone else you trust and you know is understanding. Depression is very debilitating, and you don't need it controlling you. Good luck to you. idk... maybe you should sit your parents down and try to tell them how you feel. because it's deeply affecting everything that you are, and everything that you know, and everything that will or wont be limbic system in the brain is responsible for emotions,, it hurts because we have feelings,, just dont think of it too much, focus on other things, divert your attention, think of the brighter side.. just understand them,, maybe theyre tired, doesnt like what you've done.. etc. everyone got hurt when we are scolded by our parents student nurse If they're taking out their miserable lives on you tell them to F%$# off, that's what i did when i was 18 and moved out Parents and friends often don't realize the effect their words can have. Remember they love you, and hopefully if you approach them about how their action are making you feel, together you can come up with methods which allow all of you to express your feelings with a minimum of hurt. A guidance counselor, a psychologist or a spiritual advisor could also be of assistance in helping both your family's interaction, and you personally. If you have been feeling depressed for longer than a month, or are having suicidal thoughts please seek help now. Studies have been done suggesting that the sooner depression is treated (whether by therapy, or medication or something) the more likely it is that treatment will be effective, and that the depressive episode is less likely to recur. I became depressed as a 15 year old girl, and I can tell you from personal experience that getting help before things get more serious is the best thing you can do. You may discover that simply talking to a professional will help. My thoughts are with you. |
