What is the best medicine or solution to fight depression? |
What is the best medicine or solution to fight depression? I am Bipolar and have been on so many differant medication over the year. I have found, what I have learned for my self, the best medication if you need to go that way is wellbutrin or zoloft. ONe of the biggest things you can do to help depression is get out, get out of bed and out of the house, walk, do stuff in the yard, but it is very important to not just sit in the house sao common with depression. It is easyer that way but in the long run it adds to the depression. Two lots and lots of fruits and vegies, the vitiamns you get in them really can regulate what is going on in the mind, this is not a cure but if you are up and moving and eating well little by little things will improve. The biggest thing is again you have to make your self do things, make appt with friends for lunch, go with a friend who knows and understand that you need to take it slow. But you are the biggest cure. You have to retrain you mind "I am going to do this or that today" I am not going to let this beat me!! set goals for your self if that will help. Little ones at first, I am going to get out of bed today, I am going to get dressed and do my hair today, I am going to walk out and check the mail, what ever your needs are. From what I have learned from fighting this myself is your the biggest cure. If you really want to beat this you have to make your self do it, one step at a time. My kids have had the mom that never leaves her room, or combs her hair at all or even dresses out of sweat pants. they have seen endless tears and mom sleeping and hear from dad " Oh mom is have a bad day leave her alone right now" After I tryed the medication I saw what needed to be done and now my kids have the mom that will go out and get into the pool with them. However there are still a few things, I can go to a movie yet. But if you want to get better not only do you have to take care of your mind but you heart and soul and body to feel better so you can be you again. excericse, vitamin b,positive thinking Liquor. The first thing to do would be to get help from your doctor, he can arrange medication and counseling for you. I used to not really believe in depression - I thought that you could just "get over it", that is until I went into a depression. I had a lot of serious issues in my life at that point. I choose taking medication versus just counseling because it is faster acting. Often depression is caused by chemical imbalance in your brain and medication (drugs) can help with balancing. If it is just a "down" feeling caused by things, I would suggest exercise & counseling. Drugs are not necessary unless a person is suicidal, which I wasn't, or cannot function in their normal way. For me, everything was too much trouble and I just didn't have the energy to do anything but the absolute minimum, from brushing my teeth to housework, etc. Good luck. Didn't mean to go on and on and on........ A strong will power to get up, being surrounded by positive people, exercise, plenty of fresh air and doing something that you are good at to give yourself a boost ! It isnt easy I was there before but as I said your will power can beat this and of course a help from your GP would also be good. Dont be afraid to accept help but dont dwell or feel sorry for yourself! Good luck! Friends. Surround yourself with friends who feel for you. Go out, take a walk, go to museums or parks. They take your mind off your problems or your depression. Then at night, watch a funny movie on the tele or listen to soothing music that helps you feel relaxed and comfy. Just keep your mind off anything that depresses you, that's a good way to keep depression out of your life. |
