What jobs are there that deal with helping people with depression etc. But not a psychologist or a clinician? |
I want to help people, but I want to be a shoulder to cry on or a motivational help. I have no idea if you can get paid to do that. Bartender, and the tips are great .......and no long term schooling required. Look into hot-lines. I have no idea if they are paid for that though. You could be a counselor, but you would need training of some sort. Therapist. You do need some form of training/schooling though. College is your best bet. In NYC you could be a therapist (do a course), or if elsewhere, become a social worker, life coach, or school counselor, with proper training. You could be a "Psych Tech" it's like a nurse for people with Mental Illnesses. You have to go to school in a training program for about a year.It pays pretty well.Check with your local city collage, you might have to check around, all schools do not offer the classes, see your Guidance Dept. You could always be asocial worker or counselor, but it would require some training. There are other ways too. Volunteer at a youth outreach program or become a teacher. You don't always have to be a shoulder to cry on to help people. Sometimes just being a caring and compassionate person helps, no matter what your profession. |
