Too young for depression or adulthood?

im only 15 and my life is going down the drain...... i have parents..that fuss and fight since i was 5! i never really hanged out with my friends unless i was at school. i couldnt go out no where becuase i was always home cleaning and babysitting. My life right now... i really cant say that i had a great childhood but i was sooo EXPOSE TO ADULT issues. [ like money issues, relationships and etc. the people i really hang out with is about 20 and up becuase my mom always felt safer with me with them. I actually think kids my age is very imature!! i feel like i have no life...i even work so much at home and at my job that i dont do teenage stuff! i take care of my sisters so much...THEY ARE STARTING TO CALL ME MOM! my uncle wedding is and my grandparents are coming and they are not going doing well and it could be a possible chance and think that they are going burn my house down with their clumsiness.......im recently thinking about the worsts.....losing the house...having no money...

First of all, you are never too young to have depression. Depression can strike at any age.

Your childhood sounds like mine was. I was the oldest and was responsible for my brothers and sister from a young age. I had no childhood. By the time I was 13, I was responsible for dinner one night a week, washing the dishes every night, dusting and vacuuming twice a week (it was done daily...mom did it the other times) and for all my and my sister's laundry and ironing (I grew up at a time when everything got ironed). I never learned how to play...just something I never had the opportunity to learn.

My parents fought constantly because my father was cheating and flaunted it by letting the women call the house. My mother got so depressed she attempted suicide via pills. Life was a matter of getting through one day at a time and refusing to let my parents bring me down. I avoided them as much as possible and also didn't shirk my responsibilities.

I had a few friends but no close friends. They were all so immature and their lives seemed so easy and carefree compared to mine. I never confided to them about my life...they would not have understood.

I found out how different things could be when I left home to pursue my education. Also, my marriage is the total opposite of my parents. We don't fight...we discuss our feelings. There is no yellling, screaming or cheating and never has been...not in almost 35 years of marriage! Not everyone follows in their parents' footsteps.

The good news is that you are 15...the end is in sight. LIfe is so much different when you can cut the ties and live your own life. You will find that not everyone is like your parents and that life can be great. Just concentrate on getting through one day at a time. In the meantime, find someone you can talk to....that will help more than you can imagine...just having an emotional support system will help you get through the days. And, if it becomes too much, talk to the school guidance counselor who might be able to arrange help for you via some social agencies. Good luck, sweetie, and hang in there! Feel free to email me if you need to vent. Source(s): I'm an R.N.
Sounds like you are being forced to grow up way to fast. Please do not talk about dieing. If you really feel that way, you need to get help ASAP.

Talk to your parents and tell them how you feel. You need to have some more freedom. If they do not want to listen, find someone else to talk with.

Hang in there and believe that things will get better. m
It is normal to feel overwhelmed when faced with a lot of stress in your life. But, you are 15! You need to talk with your school counselor (they should be working even in the summer - you can call the school during the day and ask), or your pastor/youth pastor if you attend church. Check your yellow pages or online for a local teen hotline. You need to talk with a professional who can help assess your situation.

I can tell you from experience that this WILL pass. Things will get better. Please talk to someone soon!
Depression can strike at any time, and frequently does when people are in their teens. Probably somebody at your school can help you with this--hopefully your counselor(s) are worth a rat's rear end and can help you out. You sound more anxious than depressed.
I'm dysthymic.....
Me & you are almost in the same boat... You have NO idea how my life is. I dont have many friends... but theyre all girls everyone makes fun of me being gay b/c of that. I dont get g/f's b/c of it. Im friends w/ mostly deppresed ppl or goths ppl who want 2 die. Im always bored I feel like a girl hangin w/ girls but I dont want to i want to be a normal boy w/ guy friends too & a g/f. Trust me your life couldnt be any worse. Im starting highschool Im soo nervous about what click ill be in its horrible. My life in the past year has been awful. My parents fight my family is split up not my parents but the others Sometimes I wish I could just cry for a day to get it all out. I still try to have hope though. I wish & pray that everything will be ok & everything will change & get better..... I still have a very very thin fragile slither of hope..... thats all we can do hope for the best & think of positive stuff... Hope you get better
