Are pills for depression good? Do they actually work?

Are pills for depression good? Do they actually work?

Your body will adapt to the dosages, so you require more. Guess what happens if you get off them. I have seen to many people get adicted to them. If you have depression, work out, the endorphins will natuaraly make you feel good and you gain mental strenght through the gains in health that you know you earned. I don't recommend using drugs because you are only treating the symptoms, not the problems. Doctors love to perscribe drugs because thats how they get paid. A doctor can make more money off sick people than healthy ones.
I take paxil for my depression and lamictal for a mood stabilizer and it works great. They had to increase my dosage because I had built up a tolerance to my lower after being off and on it for six years but I feel so much better now that I did back in January
They can work in some cases, but only if properly administered.

There is a dark side to them. They make people indifferent to their own feelings and emotions. This is hard on spouses. There are other side effects too. Since they release pleasure chemicals to the mind provided normally by sex, they reduce sex drive. This is difficult for the spouse of the medicated depressed.
They can. It also isn't easy to stop taking them, that is trouble.

Finding other ways like diet and exercise along with therapy.... this I recommend. Pills put you in a fog.... so weigh your options long-term.

It's a serious decision to be making. Study the side effects of medication.
Yes, most of them do well. Your doctor will suggest a type and you'll have to see how it works. They all differ from person to person.
Yes, there are a number of really effective medicines available that work well for most people. They should, of course, be prescribed by a qualified physician who has determined the seriousness of your condition and developed a complete treatment plan for you.

Best of luck...
I believe that the pills for depression does work. But its not a magic pill . It helps your thinking to become balanced. It also helps with the mood swings. Generally, when a person is on medication, it means that you are in therapy too. So When you have both it seems that you really do want to get better. Its not the answer to all depression problems, though you have to really want and making effort to cope with problems, that seems to be overwhelming a person. The medication also helps a person to sleep. You need to go the doctor and get diagnosed for depression. And do what he/she tells you do , then do it. You didn't get depression overnight, so its not going to be taken care of overnight.
