If you suffer from depression or anxiety should you see a psychologist or psychiatrist?

I know the difference is being able to prescribe meds but.... which is the better treatment for this diagnosis?

Psychiatric medications can benefit people quite a bit, but psychiatrists don't do much therapy anymore. Consequently, it's best to see both, as your typical primary care phsyician won't deal with psych meds. Source(s): Friendly guy
It depends on the nature and severity of your disorder.
First a psychiatrist, then a psychologist who will be able to do something like CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) with you.
Let an M.D. make that determination.
