Is anyone taking lexapro the Doctor gave it to me for depression but I know I have ADD.? |
I know I am not depressed I have never been should I take this medicine? Should I see another doctor? Lexapro worked for me, but I was seriously depressed. Always get a second opinion when in doubt. Get a second opinion for sure, but it's not necessarily for depression. My doc gave it to me to keep me from being so high strung. My doctor gave me Lexapro also and it helped my ADD symptoms. Like the others above have said, a second opinion is a great idea. Lexapro is used to treat anxiety and depression; I've never heard of it being used to treat ADHD. psychotherapist I've been on Lexapro for one and a half years now but I'm not really sure if it's working or not. I'm very depressed and I've never heard of it being a med for ADD but it's possible. Talk to your doctor or look up the uses online. Did the doctor that gave you the Lexapro say anything about why he feels that you are depressed ? Did you discuss with him how strongly you feel that you have ADD and why you are convinced of this ? A second opinion might be wise but I think I would get more details from the original doctor also. Hope this answer helps you get to the bottom of your situation because ADD and depression, as far as I know, do not really share any symptoms....Unless, he's giving you the Lexapro for the mood stabilization and not necessarily for depression... Go to webmd and look up Lexapro and see what it says....If I remember right it says for mood stabilization and depression. |
