How to jump out of this depression!? |
I'm 19 years old..I live in an upper income family, I'm reasonably attractive, and I have lots of friends..but ever since I graduated from highschool..I've kinda fell into a depression. I havent wanted to leave the house to hang out with my friends at all.For the most part, I've just wanted to be completely alone..and not talk to anyone..at all. I've stayed in the house for about 2 weeks straight now and I'm just wondering if anyone has any suggestions. I didn't use to be like this. I'm getting ready to start college in about 2 weeks and Im just feeling completely over my head. Serious answers only please I'm not sure it is depression. Your feelings are normal for anyone in that situation. You are "shifting gears" and there are a lot of unknowns ahead for you to discover and solve. The first two years of college are adjustment time, Take the required courses and a few that you think you might enjoy. You'll do fine. Source(s): This is the advice I gave my Sons and Daughter years ago, they are doing fine. 80 % of americans are depressed and only 50% will admitt it. colledge is a big step and its normal to feel anxious. its also normal to seek help to deal with this. see your dr. and ask for something to help with the stress and anxioty. good luck My older sister was the same way. It was because she was getting homesick (even though she haddn't left yet) she didnt want to leave for college. she just wanted to stay at home. This is most likely the problem and i dont think there is anything to do about it. When my sister finaly went off the college she felt the same way for about a month and then she just stopped feeling so depressed all the time. And now it's time for her to go off to college for her second year and she is feeling the same way, but not nearly as bad as last year. So you don't have anything to worry about. It's nothing seriouse. I suggest spending time with your friends and family as much as you can untill you go off to college. i hope this helped, good luck! my sisters personal expieriance Maybe u simple don't want to say goodbye to your friends and family. It's really a big deal leaving what u know into what u don't know. All of your fears (if they are fears) will be fine. Some people don't like change. Are u one of them? The best thing for stress without meds, is excercise. Excercise releases endorphins that make u feel better. I know b/c I"ve been where u are at and still have my days. Stay strong and remember God never gives us more than we can handle. Good luck and congrads on your graduation. |
