i am a studednts and im learning about this. there are two types of diabetes. type one and type two. type one is an inherited feature causesd by your genes. type two is not inherited this is and enviromental factor. So if you eat unhealthy foods your more likely to get it. it all to do with insulin doses and blood sugar if your blood sugar is two high you could be at a very high risk of death if its too low you could go into a comba and there is a risk of death there aswell. People with diabetes usually have testing kits or needle packs to test there blood sugar this isto keep track in case it go's to high or low. the usual blood sugar amount on the testing thing is about 5.00points to 7:00 points. I have it aswell soo:( Grrr not good i have type 1 and i have to inject insulin into my thigh. And it has something to do with the pancreas. :P im still learning

Type 1- insulin dependant
Type 2 - Tablet and diet controlled

Insulin is a medication that controls blood sugar levels and is taken through an injection - usually between 2 and 4 times day

WHAT CAUSES DIABETES?
The causes of type 1 diabetes developing the disease is unknown. The appearance of type 1 diabetes is suspected to follow exposure to an "environmental trigger," such as an unidentified virus, stimulating an immune attack against the beta cells of the pancreas (that produce insulin) in some genetically predisposed people.

For starters good for you. Many Many people are completely 100% wrong!!! In what they think they know. I found this out last nov. when my 10 year old daughter found out that she has type 1. The biggest diff. between the 2 that alot of people is mistaken about is sugar intake. Type one isn't all that worried about the sugars. They infact need some sugar! Its all about the carb counts. My daughter has to have 45 carbs at least for every meal! Which is very easy to do. And no matter what she has to have 4-5 shots a day. Most people even tell her that oh if you eat a salad than you don't have to get shots. Now with type 2 there is 3 diff. ways. Diet controll, pills, or shots as well. Type 1 can NEVER decrease to other forms. Becuase in type 1 it stops working completely in type 2 it is still working but having a hard time. Oh FYI there is a 3rd type and its prenatual Diabetes that usually goes away after the baby is born but makes you more highly able to get type 2 in the futer if you aren't careful!
But there is some good things for type 1. There is a pump that looks like a beeper that my daughter is getting very very soon!!! Also did you know there is Dogs for Diabetes? Can't wait till she is 12 years old. Oh also from the doctors I have found out that everyone has the jeans for diabetes but 99% of the time it dosen't show or come out for type 1. when you have diabetes type one it has to do more with genetics and type two can be from genetics or it can be from over weight
