Diabetes and it's after effects? |
I'm a Diabetes patient.... My sugar level is 200 now... I'm taking so many precautions, even though it's getting high day by day.... I'm a pure vegetarian too... Now my pressure level is also getting high.... It's 150 - 95 now.... I didn't check my cholesterol level yet..... What are the precautions I have to take to control my diabetes and pressure.... I'm not an expert, only a teen, so please don't heavily rely on my information. In regards to the previous answer - not all diabetics are overweight. Diabetes can be caused by many things such as diet, stress levels and it is also hereditary. This means that it can be passed down through generations although this does not mean that a diabetic's child will get diabetes. It also could mean that there is a slight possibility of a diabetic's grandchildren getting it, but not big. Pure vegetarian is good - although you have to make sure you are getting enough food so that your sugar level doesn't drop too low. I'm pretty sure meat shouldn't be bad as long as it's not too much - so if you want to (be sure to consult with your doctor first) try putting some meat (not greasy or fast food) into your diet. I'm not sure where you live but diabetic food is being produced in many places around the world. Sugar free ice cream, cookies...anything that is actually sugar free (read the labels extra carefully; some may contain sugar even if they say in big letters that it is in fact sugar free). Fruit is great but contains natural sugar - better than chocolates and candies but vegetables are always the best. To control your diabetes I'd reccommend that you check it enough times (depends on your situation on how much you need to). Watch your stress level, try keeping calm and not stressing over small everyday things...it'll help a lot. Also, make sure you get your insulin on time and the correct dose-always. Having diabetes is not great at all, but can be controlled enough for the diabetic to live a normal life. It can be stressful sometimes-always having to be on the watch for what you can eat and what you can't, dealing with your sugar level being too high and too low...but don't worry. Lots of people have diabetes and live normal lives with just a little bit more care to specific things. Someone in my family has diabetes and it is hard on the whole family, but they are supported and loved, and are leading a normal life. there are some fruits and Vegetables that are higher in Carbohydrates then others, and I suggest you speak to your doctor and get a list of things that are diabetes friendly, Beets, I suspect would not be on the list ,and a good many fruits are best not to over indulge in. You have a computer, do some research. One thing that you might want to know is that a bit of cheese . tends to slow down how fast carbs are broken down. so that the highs don't get so high. You may need medications if changes in diet have not worked. But first, make sure that your diet is truly diabetic-friendly. A lot of people think they are cutting down on the sugar in their diets when they have no idea of the true sugar content of their food. You need to speak with a nutritionist. Because of your high sugar count and high blood pressure, you will require special dieting. But you don't say if you are taking medication for the diabetes. though i don't know what you look like, most people with diabetes and BP issues are over weight. weight loss and exercise can decrease both problems and some people don't even need medications anymore. have you done diabetes education? if your sugar is still high and you're watching your diet, i wonder about your fruit intake-- you have to keep in mind that these are sugars too, as are potatoes/starchy foods. these increase your blood sugar more than vegetables and whole grains. i hope this helps. good luck Hi my name is Chip,I have had Diabetes for 25 years. I have had to battle this killer ,trying everything that I could find. Doctors and perscription drugs did not help as a whole .I have found that diet and exercise were moderately successful .You being a vegetarian is a definet plus ,but do remember that everything you eat is broken down into gloucose . Be it a steak ,potatoe ,soda pop ,carrot ,even a simple tomatoe .There is very little that I am aware of that you can eat that is not turned into gluocose .Your Pancreas is your insulin producing organ ,that provides the cells the ability to absorb the gluocose for energy from your blood stream . Natural Healt Alternatives have been my salvation , just a few vitamins and herbs such as Gymnea Sylvester will help regulate sugar balance ,milk thistle for kidney and liver function .Alternative Medicine is the answer that I have found ,and not only stop the pogress diabetes and brought my blood sugars down to normal levels. Blood pressure will correct itself with the sugar levels dropping . You can assist blood pressure with eating garlic every day ,eating celery and taking cayene pepper . These are just a few things you can do .For more info go to link below. , |
