Diabetes? low blood sugar? help!?

i am a 23 yr old, recently (since about jan. this year) i have started to feel funny around about 11-12 in the afternoons and 4-6ish in the evening. the times really vary but i more so notice the feelings round about this time. i do eat break. snack lunch snack dinner. symptoms include:
lightheaded/dizzy, feeling faint, blurred vision, increased, hunger, headache, shortness of breath, confusion
also, i am thirsty all the time. i drink anywhere between 4 & 8 bottles of water a day. and i generally can drink an entire bottle of water in about 2 mins. in which i still feel like i am thirsty afterwards. i used to urinate about 1-3 times a day, now i urinate alot, about every hour and a half. i never woke up during the night to use the restroom but now i wake up more. if i dont wake up, when it is time to get up i usually go for like 3 mins. and it smells funny. over the past 3 yrs i have gained about 40 pounds from stopping smoking. i don't drink soda. i have a fam history of diab. thnks

oh i am also tired all the time, and i have problems sleeping @ night. i also forgot to mention that i do take a.d.d. meds (concerta & ritalin) i dont know if these have anything to do with weird feelings, could, not sure. well, thanks for your time. i appreciate it!!

Possible functional hypoglycemia,.early glucose intolerance or early insulin resistance. This goes with your family history and obesity.

You, and many others with early glucose intolerance, don't have to develope type 2 diabetes, but often do in 10-15 years.

Have a 5 hour glucose tolerance test done. Even if it's negative( hopefully), get your physician to start a Biguanide and, very seriously, lose 25-30 lbs.

Sounds like diabetes. Get tested. There's info on Ideal Breakfast for Diabetics on this site. Eating the right breakfast can keep your blood sugar levels steady throughout the day.

Thank goodness you were lucid enough to write such a lengthy question!

Seriously, though, here's the answer you've been searching for, which, at the very least, will alleviate all your confusion: See your physician.

you answered your own question...family history of diabetes...your symptoms fit....read this and there is much more

see doc for check up.

you should go visit the doctors asap. my husband had a problem in a way similar to that and almost died from it.. he had the urination problem, and things like that. my best bet would be go the doctors asap.!!

It does sound to me that it is a good chance that it is diabetes. You sound go and see a doctor right away!

Have you called your doctor about this? You need tell him, you need to see him ASAP. Your diabetes is uncontrolled. What is your blood sugar when you get these episodes? What are you eating?

It could be HIGH blood sugar, your heart, just about anything. Please ,you need to see a doctor SOON!!!!!
I am a diabetic.
Take care.

i just found out i was type 2 diabetic a couple months ago and i went to the doctor complaining of the same things. but it was wierd cause all of them could be explained by somthing else. and i was sick with a virus at the time that didnt help. i was tired but i was working 10 hours a day. i was lightheaded but wasnt eating right or it was the flu. the peeing and drinking thing from being dehydrated from being sick.. the list went on and on. the doctor decided to do a finger poke in the office 4 hours after i ate and it was through the roof. 300's. i have no family history of diabeties which is wierd so i am the first lucky one. i would go get checked out. and once i was put on meds and i started to eat and control the diabeties you could lose weight. ive lose over 12 pounds really fast and im still losing weight! in the meantime watch the carbs. do some research on a diabetic diet and get some info on proper carb intake and foods you can eat to help you get to meal to meal.

Definatley sounds like Diabetes. I would bet money that you have it. Type two is the most common type. Which is non insulin dependant. You need to get tested so that you can have it under control. If you dont then it can kill you. You can fall into a coma and die.

On the other hand the medications could be interacting with one another. All your symptoms point to Diabetes. But . . . Medications interacting badly with one another can casue all kinds of symptoms.

YOUR NEVER GONNA KNOW FOR SURE UNTIL YOU GO TO THE DR> AND GET TESTED> THE ONLY OTHER WAY TO FIND OUT IS TO HAVE FAILURE OF THE LIVER OR KIDNEYS OR TO FALL INTO A COMA> GET TESTED ASAP

Well, you might need to go to a doctor to be more accurate, but you are having the symptoms of diab. now the only problem is to see if you have it( I hope you don't) and if you do what type?...Also don't take it from me but I used to think the same thing my dad also has diabetes and I'm 22 years old but what I found out I had was stress and anxiety which leads to all the similar problems of diab. but it's all in your head! after a while the symtomps went away. but it's because I started to go out more and thought less. I can all be in your head too, make sure that you are not stress a lot and you are not anxious. Best of luck!!
