I have diabetes and i would like 2 share it with peopls same age? |
last month ,i started to feel thirtsy and drink around 4 litres of water per day plus 2 litres of pepsi ...etc and i felt very tired and they took me to the hospital and found out i have diabetes :( Hello , I have a 10 year old daughter who was diagnosed in Dec.She is also type 1. She had the same symptoms as you with a weight loss of 23 pounds in a couple of days. She is doing really well with hers and is taking 5 shots a day. We went to her endo on Wed. and filled out the papers for her a insulin pump. Have you talked to your Dr. about getting the pump as well? Are you injections based on your blood sugar levels and how many carbs you eat? Its much easier this way. you will be able to eat anything you want as long as you do your corrections for the carbs and bs levels. If you need to talk you can email me. You can live a very happy healthy life. Yes, if you are type 1, you definately will have to take insulin 5 or even 6 times daily. It's not the end of the world. Insulin will make you feel better and healthy again. You must watch your diet, get a dietitian or a nutritionist to help your. Take a few diabetes educational classes and learn everything you can about your disease. This will help you control it better. Get some daily exercise. Don't fall into the routine of eating what you want and using more insulin to make up for it. Eating more or eating too many carbs and using more insulin can make you gain weight and you don't want to do that, besides, it is not a good habit. You will do well, you must just learn to get into a good routine and live a good life for yourself. Good luck. I was drinking tons too when I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes 6 months ago. [Btw, im 18 lol] And i'm now on lantus and novorapid insilin. And learning to carb count. My nutritionist told me that eventually, I'll be able to eat anything I want and still be able to control my blood sugar. The ultimate goal is to be able to eat like a person without diabetes. One of my old schoolteachers said that Diabetes was a "wonderful disease to have". This sounds odd, but look at it this way: if you follow a good diet and take your insulin, you should be very fit and healthy. sorry, I'm only 15, and have had it since I was 3 (type 1, which I'm assuming you have). My mother (45 i think) has had type 1 since she was 10. I'm sorry it had to happen to you too, but there are lots of worse things (you couldve been really fat and gotten type 2, ewww). lol. You do have to take somewhere around 4-5 shots a day, of course, later (say 2 or 3 years) you could get an insulin pump!! and remember to do your blood sugar when you feel low, or high(you will develop your own symptoms for each of these as you become more aware of your diabetes). |
