Can diabetes make you skinny?

please giv me an answer

thanks

yes it can. i went from 115lbs/5'2, to 88lbs. people said i looked like i was knocking on death's door. now on insulin and gainning, back up to 100. i lost everything my boobs went from c's to a's .and they are comming back too. yeah.

You can bet your bippy it can and will make you skinny. Heres why:As most people with diabetes know well, wildly fluctuating levels of sugar in the bloodstream can cause trouble. High levels of blood sugar, due to a lack of insulin or resistance to insulin, reflect the body's inability to transport sugar into its cells to be used as fuel. The cells literally begin starving to death -- a process that can lead to kidney disease, heart disease, chronic infections, and a host of other ailments. But with proper treatment, patients with diabetes can bring their blood sugar under control. Especially with type 1 you can starve to death.Thats what happened in the days before insulin.
Good question. A star is in order.

Uncontrolled glucose levels that are way high can indeed eat away all the fat on your bod then start in on the muscles!!

So yes, diabetes can make you skinny!! It did me before I got diagnosis. But by the time you decide that your food planning isn't the reason you are losing weight, diabetes is doing all kinds of other damage to your bod too. Like numbness in toes, fingers, some other spot on your bod. Like heart, liver, kidney damage. Like vision damage.

Yes....both types can cause weight loss or weight gain.
