Dont worry, you're not alone. I think diabetes has made every diabetic crazy at some point in their life. Just listen to your doctor. It might take another month before you find the exact doses that are right for you (I know, not something you want to hear!) You'll be tweaking your insulin doses for the rest of your life (Hopefully theres no huge tweaks, and hopefully its not very often) I've been a type 1 diabetic for almost 5 years and I still get angry when I test my blood sugar and I get a number I'm not expecting.

Firstly, you say you "got it last month", if it was only diagnosed a month ago, the chances are you have had diabetes u ndiagnosed for quite some time, so it will take a little while for your doctor or diabetes practice nurse to get the insulin balance right for you. Yes, you will get some really down days but it will pass, once you get your medication stabilised you will start to feel better, probably than you have for quite a while. Don't forget, if you have only recently found out about your condition it is a shock and it is very frightening when you read of all the complications that can arise from diabetes, but please don't panic. These days G.P.'s are very knowledgeable about the condition, there is a lot of help out there. Ask your G.P. about information from the British Diabetes Association, there is a lot of good commonsense advice in there. Good luck.

hey,

i know how you feel, my blood sugar is all over theplace all the time no matter what i do i cant get it right and when i do its high again soon, its annoying.

i have type1 and my doctor has been ringing me once a week for reading on my blood sugar levels. it drives youmad but with out all the hassle you'd be messed up, all i an say is try hard to keep it controlled.
i mean over the last couple of months ive been slacking, i havent really been checking my blood sugar and stuff like that but i realise after going to the doctor a couple of weeks ago that it is VERY important and sometimes you need to be reminded of it... dont eat lots of junk food thats got loads of sugar in it, try to eat carbs.

The best peice of advice I can offer is to try fast acting insulin ASAP. You have to take more injections but in my experience it has turned diabetes from a major problem in my life to something that has just become second nature.

The concept is simple you figure out how much carbs are in what you are eating (gets very easy after a while) have a think about what exersise you may be doing in the next 4 hours, then calculate your dose. and eat what you like when you like.

Best thing is if you find a high blood sugar reading you can take a correction dose and it will be sorted within 3-4 hours.

It takes a little more care to avoid for hypos but carry some lucozade when you can.

Your doctor may tell you its too soon but I wish they had out me on it straight away

what you eat and drink will effect your bloodsugar levels very much. I guess you have been changing your eating habits, if not, you should. Eat something similar to an Atkins type diet, and avoid sugar, and simple carbs. eat small amounts more often through the day. If you dont eat right, it will be very hard to control your sugar levels. Many diabetics can control their condition with diet and excersize alone. And by all means, Read as much as you can about diabetes. The more you know about it, the more you can do yourself to control it, and may even be able to avoid the insulin.

Yes, diabetes makes you crazy. It is horrible. You can do everything just right, and your body doesn't care, it swings high and low, then high again.
You are not alone. This happens to every single diabetic. I am sure that every diabetic has felt the things you are feeling.
I have no real answers for you, just hang in there.
Remember, it does get easier.

hi you
i know the feeling i had it myself and i know what i am going true, and that's how i know that this will fall on deaf ears but relax dont be nervous your starting out on a long road and just right now your doctor is still only working what dose of insulin is best for you we all went true what your going true just right now but you will have to relax and learn not to be so nervous OK and do your part to bring your diabetes undercontaol and your doctor will do his i wish you the best and you have a lot of friends how this site that will help you along the way but i promise the best thing to do right now is relax dont be nervous and all will work out just fine

First off you didn't get it last month...You learned that you had it last month, you've probably had it for years.
What is sounds like is that your doctor may have you on a fast acting insulin. Not to interfere with your doctor but you might do better with a long lasting version that you take once a day.
Do something here. Keep a log on what and when you eat and exercise. I found that my glucose goes thru the roof if I eat late at night just before bed or drink any type of fluid milk. Which is easy to control and avoid.

I know EXACTLY what you mean...it drives you insane doesn't it?...thing is having had it for a long time you learn that there is no point in getting stressed over it...yes sometimes your blood sugar is FANTASTIC and yes sometimes it is awful but EVERYONE who has diabetes has times like that...if they say they don't then they are down right lying!...another plus in your situation is that you have only just been diagnosed...and things are bound to be up in arms for a while...you just gotta give it a little time...
I know this probably sounds preechy and annoying and probably the last thing you want to hear...but give it a chance...things will look up...maybe not now...or in the next few weeks but years from now you'll look back and realise that you don't have to have things perfect all of the time...
take it from someone who knows exactly what you are talking about...things do get better...

Go to http://www.dlife.com/
It's a terrific site.
There are recipes, informational articles, blogs by diabetics. Everyone on the site knows exactly what you're going through and will do all they can to help you. They've helped me SO much in the chat rooms.

Depression is natural and unavoidable. That's why talking to other diabetics is so helpful.

Been there, done that. I'll keep you in my prayers.

Take it easy. Don't panic you have to live with it. What you need is to have patience , use insulin regularly, exercise , avoid stress , and put a smile on your face , that's life you have to cop with.

Listen to KaffyJay, she's right on the dot.
Peace.

Diabetes can control by food and excise. try to eat less and if you feel like to eat more then eat water biscuits. There are some Indian vegetables which are very good for diabetes.
you can buy them in any Indian grocery shop. The vegetable called kerela ( in Srilankan shop they call it pavakkaai) all you need to do is wash the vegetable and cut small piece liquidise it and eat at least 2 or 3 times a month. it is bitter but eat with some thing that will take the bitter off. (No sugar or sweet) There are some vegetables which are good for diabetes. You will find them in some Srilankan shop. Ask the shop keeper to point out the vegetable and for the receipe.)
If you go to www. Ayurveda ( ancient Indian medicine )you will find natural food which can be helpful to control diabetes. Also yoga helps to over come your stress and help you with the diabetes.
There is another way you can relax is to have oil massarge. If you could ask some one to give you head shoulder back and feet to massarge it will help you to relax and sleep well and you know you will defiantly feel calm. ( use oil that good for your skin - after the massarge sleep for awhile and have warm shower ) My uncle suffers with diabetes since early forty now he is in late seventy. All controled by food.
All the best.
