Diabetes is driving me crazy? |
Hello, thnx for all Dont worry, you're not alone. I think diabetes has made every diabetic crazy at some point in their life. Just listen to your doctor. It might take another month before you find the exact doses that are right for you (I know, not something you want to hear!) You'll be tweaking your insulin doses for the rest of your life (Hopefully theres no huge tweaks, and hopefully its not very often) I've been a type 1 diabetic for almost 5 years and I still get angry when I test my blood sugar and I get a number I'm not expecting. Firstly, you say you "got it last month", if it was only diagnosed a month ago, the chances are you have had diabetes u ndiagnosed for quite some time, so it will take a little while for your doctor or diabetes practice nurse to get the insulin balance right for you. Yes, you will get some really down days but it will pass, once you get your medication stabilised you will start to feel better, probably than you have for quite a while. Don't forget, if you have only recently found out about your condition it is a shock and it is very frightening when you read of all the complications that can arise from diabetes, but please don't panic. These days G.P.'s are very knowledgeable about the condition, there is a lot of help out there. Ask your G.P. about information from the British Diabetes Association, there is a lot of good commonsense advice in there. Good luck. hey, The best peice of advice I can offer is to try fast acting insulin ASAP. You have to take more injections but in my experience it has turned diabetes from a major problem in my life to something that has just become second nature. what you eat and drink will effect your bloodsugar levels very much. I guess you have been changing your eating habits, if not, you should. Eat something similar to an Atkins type diet, and avoid sugar, and simple carbs. eat small amounts more often through the day. If you dont eat right, it will be very hard to control your sugar levels. Many diabetics can control their condition with diet and excersize alone. And by all means, Read as much as you can about diabetes. The more you know about it, the more you can do yourself to control it, and may even be able to avoid the insulin. Yes, diabetes makes you crazy. It is horrible. You can do everything just right, and your body doesn't care, it swings high and low, then high again. hi you First off you didn't get it last month...You learned that you had it last month, you've probably had it for years. I know EXACTLY what you mean...it drives you insane doesn't it?...thing is having had it for a long time you learn that there is no point in getting stressed over it...yes sometimes your blood sugar is FANTASTIC and yes sometimes it is awful but EVERYONE who has diabetes has times like that...if they say they don't then they are down right lying!...another plus in your situation is that you have only just been diagnosed...and things are bound to be up in arms for a while...you just gotta give it a little time... Go to http://www.dlife.com/ Take it easy. Don't panic you have to live with it. What you need is to have patience , use insulin regularly, exercise , avoid stress , and put a smile on your face , that's life you have to cop with. Listen to KaffyJay, she's right on the dot. Diabetes can control by food and excise. try to eat less and if you feel like to eat more then eat water biscuits. There are some Indian vegetables which are very good for diabetes. |
