Diabetes .. foods?

tby the way type 1

There are no forbidden foods for diabetics anymore. The important thing for Type 2's is to only eat as much carb as the body can process, but since you're asking about Type 1's, we can eat pretty much anything as long as we give ourselves the right amount of insulin to cover it. With that said, insulin will absorb better into the system in smaller amounts, so it's best to keep carb loads at about 70g or less whenever possible. Every Type 1 makes their own decisions about what they will or won't eat...some still really avoid sugar, but most of us eat normally and only avoid really concentrated high-carb stuff like sugared drinks. Some even drink those but as with everything it needs to be factored in and insulin dosed correctly. Most diabetics need to be careful with the inconsistent use of alcoholic beverages, because they tend to make the blood sugar rise but then fall severely a few hours later. If you're consistent and drink say a glass of wine every night with dinner, with practice you can dose yourself correctly to avoid that.

type one or type 2 diabetes HUGE differance!

I can eat anything I want granted I supply the right amount of insulin for the meal or food I am eating I am type 1 and I use lantis 24 hour insulin as well as an insulin pen to inject humalog insulin into my body before every meal this way I can correct my food intake and eat whenever and however much I want. So in theory I can eat anything I want as long as I give the correct dose. When your dealing with a type 2 diabetc who takes oral meds you will find they have to be much much more carefuly with what they eat theirs is largly controled by diet and working out being active etc.

I am a type 2 diabetic, but I would guess the diet is the same. Here a a few website for you to check out. Good luck.

There is nothing a diabetic can't eat. It's a matter of portion size and quantity of carbohydrates per meal.

Grains starches 6-11 a day
Vegetables 3-5 a day
Fruits 2-4 a day
Milk 2-3 a day
Meat 4-6 oz a day
Fats, Sweets, Alcohol-Keep small & as a special treat
*Diabetic Food Pyramid*

white bread, sugar, diet drinks, red meat, alcohol, all dairy products, butter, fried foods and margarine

Anything w/ spelenda in it!
