Answer No ! : No confirmed statistics. The number is continously increasing

Answer No 2 Genetics play a major role.Any one cant get diabetes. Most are sufering from type 2 the major cause of which is sedentary life style, poor diet and lack of exercise.

To answer the first more than 220,000 people die yearly from diabetes.

And to answer the second, basically anyone can be at risk, and it depends what type you're talking about. If you're type 1 then it can be genetically traced back. My mom was diagnosed 4 years ago and they say the gene was dormant in her body until a common cold basically woke it up, but we don't know anyone in her family that had it. Type 1 is usually found in children though, but my mom was 28 when she got it. Type 2 is usually found in overweight and obese people, because your pancreas can't make enough insulin to keep up. 80% of diabetics are overweight.

I hope that helps and good luck on your essay!

i'm not totally sure on this exactly

1- there is no record of them dieing from diabetes exactly. its more likely to be from kidney failure or some other organ failing but it may be contributed to by poor diabetes control

2-most likely? if its in the family/genetics, and those who have a bad diet and no exersize (just the body's way of saying. "
warning OVERLOAD!!!". with the 2nd type of person it usually starts out as type 2 which is regulated with diet and/tablets then if it gets worse it moves to injections as your body starts to shut bits down and your pancreas hass issues working properly
(hope i havent confused you)

I'm not sure about the answer to the first, but People with a family history, African Americans, Native Americans, and Latinos are more likely to develop the disease. Other factors can include being overweight or obese and not exercising properly. There is a myth that eating too much sugar can cause it, and that's not true either. There are plenty of websites and things out there that have tons of information. Hope you do well on your Essay! :)

I personally don't know the answer to these questions, but if you would contact the American Diabetes Association, I am sure they could provide the information you need.
My answers to these questions would be...
1. Way to many people die from this disease.
2. Everyone is prone to this disease. Especially if someone in the family has it. It can be caused by genetics, infection and a self allergy,
