I have gestational diabetes.... they gave me a carb count.... But Can i have sugar free stuff and no effect my

blood sugar, or do the carbs in those items count.....

All carbs count.

I have Reactive Hypoglycemia. (low blood sugar)
My nutritionist told me that the sugar substitutes react the same with glucose as regular sugar so she told me not to use them. I would assume it would be the same with diabetes since both have everything to do with the sugar reaction to the glucose. Hope this helps.

Eat healthy and consult your doctor on all questions. You will probably deliver early and may have a large baby, so what you take in is important because you need to make sure you are providing best nutrition to your child in case you do deliver early.
You also need to be cautious about your diabetes causing further complications and causing other problems that could end you up on bed rest.

Read the labels..Sugar is not what effects diabetes, it is the carbs as you were told.
So read the label on those "sugar free" items, I think you will find those have a very high Carb count because they contain a lot of sugar alcohols.

some time the taste of sugar(sweet) stimulate your thyroid cells to increase the blood sugar level in your body. you may visit this site for more information on this issue

The carbs in those items also count

you need to discuss this with your diabetic educator if you do not fully understand.....that is what their job is.
