A simple food list of food to cut out.........diabetes.?

Can someone give me a list of food that diabetics should not eat. Serious list only please. Thank you!!

Food to Avoid

Avoid food high in sugar, honey and artificial sweeteners. Use an alternative sweetener like stevia. Foods High in sugar include sweets and chocolate. If you need the occasional piece of chocolate (like most of us!) then try to eat Continental dark chocolate with at-least 75% cocoa solids.

You should also avoid certain types of vegetables including beans, parsnips, carrots and peas. All these are high in starch.
You should also avoid fruits including banana, grapes, strawberries and mangoes.

Avoid types of grains including pasta, rice, barley, corn, wheat and rye and foods that contain ingredients that end in ol or ose. These are mainly types of carbohydrates.

Foods to Eat

Foods you should eat should be high in fibre. A high fibre diet is very important for diabetics. This includes cereals, nuts, fruits, seeds and certain vegetables. Food with fibre in is good for diabetics as it reduces cholesterol and glucose levels.

You should also eat fruits that include grapefruit, peaches, lime and apples. Eat fruit and vegetables gradually throughout the day so your blood sugar level won鈥檛 suddenly rise. You can also eat seafood of all types preferably boiled, steamed, baked or grilled 鈥?Not fried.

Eat white meats like chicken, fish and duck. Although you can eat lamb or beef once or twice a week. Eggs are fine for diabetics but try to avoid the yolk. Cheeses are also fine apart from cottage cheese.

Simple sugar IS carbohydrate. The problem is that it has a very low glycemic index and the glucose is immediately dumped into the blood stream and raises fast.

A diabetic needs to stay away from all SIMPLE carbohydrates. The problem with sugar free desserts and such is that they may not contain straight sugar but they do contain a high level of simple carbohydrates because of ingredients like white flour.

In fact, white bread is the standard measure for the lowest glycemic index food.

What the diabetic needs to to stick with COMPLEX carbohydrates (sugars). This includes whole grains and fresh vegetables. Not to mention healthy sources of protein and calcium. Fruits vary in glycemic index. The more jucey the fruit the more simple sugars (carbohydrates) it contains.

Just keep your carb intake at the recommended level and you can eat any kind of food in moderation. Some obviously high-carb stuff that you'll want to minimize are sugared drinks (including fruit smoothies), pastas, rice, and desserts. You can still have a little, just not a lot.

the first person who answered is not correct about the sugar free stuff. diabetics have to watch carbs, not sugar. there are so many sugar free products that are LOADED with carbs. when i was first diagnosed i thought that way. i went and bought sugar free icecream. a half a cup was 45 carbs. my doctor told me to stick with 45-60 carbs per meal. so that icecream would have been my meal lol..

every diabetic is different. corn and apples make my blood sugar rise. also things like potatoes, white bread, and some pasta make my blood sugar rise. you have to learn what you can eat. eat a meal and test your sugar 2 hours later and that will tell you how you handle cetain foods. you can eat just about anything but the key is to follow serving sizes and always level it out with some kind of protein. if your a person who tends to overeat, make lots of veggies and salads with your meals. a little bit of side dishes with meals is ok. and even sugar snacks on occasion are ok. just learn not to over due it.

Anything with white flour. Use whole wheat pasta - make sure when you have pasta you have a protein...meatballs, sausage, chicken...the protein stops the carbs from turning into sugar. Use whole wheat bread. Brown rice. Obviously stay away from desserts unless they are sugar free and diabetic recommended. There are alot of products out there now that are sugar free.

Rice,
Pasta
Candy
anything with sugars (pop, candy)

If its not a meat or fat product it has carbohydrates. Read lables and learn about GI foods.

Pasta, breads, cereal, and pop. There are lots more, but that is a general good rule to live by.
