I have a really sweet tooth but I don't want to get diabetes....? |
How can I find out whether I'm eating too much sugar? I love ice cream, cakes, chocolate, cookies, fruit juice and dried fruit. I have sweet snacks every day, and often twice a day. Eating sweets does not cause diabetes, but will definately put some pounds on. You don't have to be overweight to develop diabetes, a person of any weight can develop the disease, especially if it is in the family. Hispanics, Asians, and Blacks do have a higher rate of diabetes, but it is common in all races. I would cut down on the sweet stuff just to offer yourself a better diet. Eating sweets does not cause diabetes. If you don't want to become diabetic, then eat what your ancestors ate and what the rural Asians (and South Americans) continue to eat. Do some homework, and you'll see that practically no one who eats a wholesome, natural foods based diet becomes diabetic.
