I have a really sweet tooth but I don't want to get diabetes....?

How can I find out whether I'm eating too much sugar? I love ice cream, cakes, chocolate, cookies, fruit juice and dried fruit. I have sweet snacks every day, and often twice a day.

Btw I'm not overweight, but I'm Asian, and I've heard that Asians (and Blacks) can get diabetes without being overweight.

Eating sweets does not cause diabetes, but will definately put some pounds on. You don't have to be overweight to develop diabetes, a person of any weight can develop the disease, especially if it is in the family. Hispanics, Asians, and Blacks do have a higher rate of diabetes, but it is common in all races. I would cut down on the sweet stuff just to offer yourself a better diet.

Eating sweets does not cause diabetes.

Loving sweets doesn't cause anything.

You say you have "sweet snacks every day, and often twice a day". You mean like you have orange juice in the morning and a couple of cookies for dessert after dinner? Or do you mean a pound and a half of dried fruit for a snack and a gallon of ice cream for dessert?

Nothing you mentioned is BAD, you can eat any of it - in moderation.

If you don't want to become diabetic, then eat what your ancestors ate and what the rural Asians (and South Americans) continue to eat. Do some homework, and you'll see that practically no one who eats a wholesome, natural foods based diet becomes diabetic. Here's an article you might want to read....

Also, you might find it interesting that I was diabetic on medication for five years before stumbling upon this simple diet. My type two diabetes reversed so significantly, that I no longer have to take medication for it. I eat lots of raw fruits and vegetables while avoiding much of the refined and processed nutrient lacking man made products. More here:

Lose the sweet tooth and learn to please your body. Eating to please your taste buds will kill you.

you cant get diabetes from eating too much sugar
(i got it from acute menengitis when i was younger but still people accused my parents for feeding us too much sugar even tho we were kids who loved fruit and veg)
its usually genetics, being overweight for a long time or a big trauma. pretty much your body closing parts of smaller organs down

You don't get diabetes from eating too much sugar, it is usually a genetic pre-disposition or caused by being overweight for a long period of time.

Any table sugar is too much. It's not a food.

i got diabetes it comes out of the blue and it's very rarely come 2 people from eating sweet stuff
