My brother lost his vision due to his diabetes looking for info to correct problem?

his doctor told him that rectna damage but there may be hope to correct outside of nyc

First of all, your brother lost his vision because he brought it on himself.

Diabetes doesn't automatically guarantee that you will develop optical complications (or complications of any kind). Its whether you take care of yourself and manage your blood sugars diligently.

If his blood sugars were in a normal range, his vision would be great. If he gets his blood sugar in a normal range (as long as there aren't any underlying eye conditions), then his vision will most likely start to return. But he has to keep his blood sugars in control!!!!!!!

A build up of sugar in the blood is toxic to your system. Sugar molecules are sharp crystals, and when they are floating around in excess, they do damage to nerve tissue. This is why all those complications develop if you don't control your diabetes. Since I don't think anything is wrong with his eyes other than they are being damaged by too much sugar, if he gets his blood sugar in control, they should start to repair themselves.

The body is an amazing thing that will heal itself if given the chance. Your brother can give his body that chance if he gets his diabetes under control. Get him to an endocronologist, and go to this website if you have any questions:

I have never heard of a cure or treatment for blindness caused by diabetic retinopathy. I wish your brother lots of luck.
