Is it safe to drink gatorade when you have a type 2 diabetes?

Is it safe to drink gatorade when you have a type 2 diabetes?

No, even though Gatorade has minerals and electrolytes that your body needs, there is too much sugar in it. It can send your sugar sky rocketing.

It's probably not the best thing for you, since it has like 14 grams of sugar. Might give you a bit of a head rush. See if you can find a low-sugar alternative.

The gatorade website said this:
"Yes, diabetics can actually benefit from Gatorade. Physically active diabetics who require periodic intake of carbohydrate to prevent hypoglycemia from occurring during and following activity should consume carbs during exercise.

Also, people with diabetes are prone to dehydration by way of their increased urine output, and Gatorade can help in that regard as well. People with diabetes should always consult a physician before making any change in dietary intake."

Keep in mind, that's coming from people who want you to buy their product. I think what they said is probably somewhat true, but a healthier alternative would be to eat small meals throughout the day to replenish your carbs, and stick to water when exercising. You might want to ask your doctor to recommend an alternative.

Compare the amount of sugar in Gatorade to any soft drink. You find there is more sugar in Gatorade. Find another drink you like and read the sugar content.

No.
