Could you die from having diabetes?

I would like to know because I'm type 2 diabetes. I also have bi-polar, but I'm mainly worrying about dying from diabetes.

Yes. You can die of a stroke or heart attack if your blood sugar is too high. You can go into a coma if its too high and die if its untreated. You can go too low if you misuse insulin and go into a coma and die from insulin shock. Going too low or too high can also cause brain damage.

Or you can die from complications from having diabetes. Most diabetics die from heart related complications from the diabetes.

If you take good care of yourself and keep your levels as close to normal as possible you should be able to live a long time with it, and hopefully not shorten your life.

I believe that as long as you exercise reguarly, eat well and have regular check-ups with your doctor you can avoid dying from diabetes. Report Abuse

i think having type 1 diabetes can be worse because you have to give yourself insulin daily even sometimes 3 times daily. Therefore, if too much insulin was given etc the blood sugar could go really low and you unless you get some sugar or glucose injection, it is possible to go into a coma. Type 11 diabetes although some people are on tablets, others may just need to control their diabetes and keeping their blood sugar stable by eating the right foods i.e complex carbohydrates, etc. I hope this helps you. maybe you should ask your g.p if you continue to worry about your diabetes.

I am also bi polar, and my girlfriend has type 2;and yes you can die from it,mainly the complications that arise from it.Circulation is one way;wounds that don't heal could lead to some antibiotic resistance potentially. And if your an alcoholic too then all sorts of crap pops up. eat well exercise blahblahbha you know the rest.Hope that you have more fortune with it than mine does.Take care then.Oh, I forgot;don't know what psych.meds your on but don't trust your doctors about meds interactions.Check with pharmacist only.

Not from the diabetes itself, but from the problems that it causes, such as heart disease, kidney failure, and vasular problems.
If you keep your blood sugar under very tight control, these problems are minimised.

You have to keep it in control & regularly follow the medicine pattren otherwise Its dangerous for health. Dont worry Best of luck

MY mother did. In the 60's not much in knowledge about diabetes. Blindness, strokes and finally heart failure.
Yes it is a devastating disease if left uncontroled.

Go see you Doctor. They have meds as well as info on eating right. I am type 2 as well. Ive had it for 7 years and I am still here.
