1 Both aspartame and sucralose are usually bulked up with maltodextrin, but it is usually in such a small amount that it can be ignored. Likewise, Sweet'N Low is bulked up with a small amount of dextrose (glucose).

We are all different, so the only way to tell what works is to try different things and test. Generally beans are good, and dark green veggies like broccoli, spinach, etc. I find that potatoes don't bother me too much, but rice spikes me off the chart. But I only know that because I test. Everyone is different.

What I really like is roasted veggies. Cut up carrots, summer squash, broccoli, cauliflower, etc. into pieces about 1", toss them in oil and a few spices, and bake in the oven at like 450 for half an hour or 45 min. It tastes good and you can eat a lot of it. I can handle a little potato or sweet potato in this mix, and that makes it even better. You might want to line the baking dish with tinfoil because it sticks to glass.

Meat, in moderation of course, is not bad. Unless you're a vegan or something.

The Morning Star products that aren't carb-heavy, like the veggie breakfast sausages, Griller's Vegan patties.

Other protein sources are eggs, cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt, and milk (although I'd be careful with yogurt, many of those are very sugary).

Beans have protein and usually have enough fiber in them to not provoke a high blood sugar, however some diabetics do get high blood sugars from beans, so you'll have to limit your servings and test to see if you can tolerate them.

You can find a lot of protein in whole wheat pastas such as Barilla Plus brand. I find I can eat those and it doesn't budge my blood sugar (unlike white pasta).

http://www.mendosa.com for the glycemic indexing of foods. choose the foods from the lower numbers. like under 50 in value.

Meat doesn't raise glucose levels appreciably. neither does fats. It is all the plant foods that are carbohydrates or sugars. So all vegan foods are higher carb food plans than those of the carnivores!

I would stay completely away from grain products to keep glucose numbers down! Others say must eat grains to get enough fiber, but I think broccoli and stuff like that is fiberous enough for all of us.

Carbohydrates raise your blood sugar. Meat/protein usually does not have carbohydrates. I would talk to a nutritionist or diabetes educator for complete details. cutting back on carbohydrates is a start to maintaining good glucose levels - you might also want to research info about the "glycemic index"

Talk to a nutritionist or diabetic educator.

Stop ingesting as much sugar as possible.
