What kind of snack items from a vending machine can be safely eaten by a person with diabetes?

What kind of snack items from a vending machine can be safely eaten by a person with diabetes?

Nuts are the only thing you should snack on. Pretzels are a no, no. Glycimic index of pretzels:
Pretzels, oven-baked, traditional wheat flavour (Parker's, Smith's Snack Food Co., Australia) 83卤9 if it over 55 it is not for us diabetics. Because 3 or 4 little pretzel is never enough for us!!!Peanuts are between 9 and 13. Very good

Some nuts, pretzels and muesli bars can be safely eaten by a diabetic.

But my advice to you is to stay away from vending machines, they're nasty and not designed for diabetics.

They also make it impossible to read the label from outside, if you really want to look normal by eating snacks from a vending machine then go into a supermarket and look at all of the labels of common bars, chips, pretzels and nuts.

If the carb, fat, sugar and salt levels are all okay for you to eat then remember the name so next time your at a vending machine you know whats safe without wasting money to check.

Good Luck

Most foods in the vending machine can be eaten by the diabetic. Extremely high carb foods are better left alone, but counting the carb content is best. A snack should usually be no more than 30 grams of carb. Learn to read labels, it will help you make better choices, and do not look at the sugar grams....only the carbs. Also, check the American Diabetes Association website for Certified Diabetes Educators in your area, and attend some classes. Nutrition is a very important part of diabetes management, and most insurances will cover diabetes education classes.
Good Luck!

Anything you want sweetheart!!! there are no rules any more. Check your glucose level and decide if you really can afford the carb counts of some of the things in vending machines!!!

I carry all my own snackies in my huge suitcase like purse!! I have to have my meds anyway, so why not carry some snackies in either purse or briefcase??

Haha.. i have this same problem when i try to find something to eat. I usually get the nuts, pretzels or some type of cracker like Goldfish, and diet soda. Look for dried fruits, nuts, peanut butters, and trail mixes. But always look at the carbs before you eat the whole package.

As long as you count the carbs and work it into your meal plan, anything should be fine.

With that said, keep in mind that sugary foods can cause a "spike" in your blood sugar levels.

Nuts would be your best bet. Preferably unsalted ones.

Nuts. Pretzels (a few). That's about it. And diet soft drinks. They don't set those machines up for diabetics. 8^<

pretzels, cheese crackers,or a granola bar with water

snacks mentioned, plus meet snacks, best bet is bring snacks from home.
