Is diabetes genetic or can it develop from unhealthy eating habits over time?

Is diabetes genetic or can it develop from unhealthy eating habits over time?

Both. For type two diabetes, you must first have a genetic predisposition. If you continue to overload your body with poor nutrition, high carb foods, you will most likely end up becoming type two diabetic. If you have the predisposition and eat a primarily natural foods diet, stay active, and keep the lipids down, you probably won't ever become diabetic.

It can be both. A person is at higher risk of developing diabetes, if they have a parent, grandparent, or sibling that is a diabetic.

Life style, little or no exercise and unhealthy eating habits are definite links to developing diabetes. Being over weight and belly fat can also play a big part in becoming a diabetic too.

depends on the Type.

Type 1: genetic. No eating habits involved.

Type 2: Some ethnicities have a higher genetic predispostion, but we all have that unfortunate genetic predisposition of being human and getting fat when we eat too much.
An excess of adiposal fat (belly fat) decreases insulin sensitivity which increases Blood Glucose levels which is the definition of diabetes.

Both type 1 and 2 can have genetic predispositions.
Type 2 is actually more genetic than type 1.

Poor eating habits are not to blame for diabetes.

Type one Diabetes is usually preceded by family history of the disease, while Type two can develop due to poor diet alone.

Probably both. You could develop certain habits over a lifetime or it could come from family.
