Do all men with diabetes have impotence problems?

I can't tell you the last time hubby has felt like being romantic.
it's his diabetes i think. at least thats what he says, he falls asleep right after dinner and doesnt wake up till dawn.
why does diabetes do that?
darn it.

Erectile dysfunction is very common in male diabetics. It is one problems that they complain about the most. It sounds like your hubby is spending a lot of time sleeping. He needs to get some sort of exercise instead of sleeping right after he eats. Tell him to talk to his doctor. There are plenty of medications that can help him, but you may have to prod him to go. Many men with this problem are also depressed to a certain extent because of it. This could be one of the reasons he sleeps so much. Please, be compassionate about this. It is bad enough when a man has this problem, he does not have to be reminded of it all the time. Make sure he is eating the right diet and has his disease under control. If his blood sugars are too high, it will just make this problem worse. Women diabetics also have problems with sexual desires and vaginal dryness.

Many do. For some, those who have had uncontrolled diabetes, or have been diabetic for many years, the problem can be neuropathy (nerve damage caused from diabetes). For many others, the problem is low testerone. 1/3 of all men with diabetes have low testoserone, and this causes impotence! Testosterone replacement is available, so tell the doc you want your husband tested for low T. Since this isn't always a comfortable subject, many people suffer silently without ever mentioning it to their health care provider, and many in health care never bring it up. Good Luck!

Lots of peolpe do have problems in that region, could be from nerve damage, depression, but most of all is the lack of blood cirulation. which the organ requires much of to do its thing. and for the real answer (most) people that are diabetic will at one point have impotence. im 29 and have just been diagnosed 6 months ago and no problem in that region.
just other nerve damage cranial nerve # IV , but thats from my sugar lvl being over 1200 for months and not knowing!

very high levels of blood sugar have the ability to damage nerves and blood vessels in the legs and feet, brain, eyes, heart, genitals, and about every other area of the body, which is why diabetics are at increased risk for most major diseases. unfortunately, once the damage in done there is no reliable way to undo most of it. also, if a diabetic is not keeping a high enough blood sugar there energy level will drop, and so will there sexual desire. some diabetics however have completely normal sex lives.

My father has diabetes and the only thign it does with him is make him cranky when it is too low and it makes him ytired when it is high. It depends on how severe the diabetes is. you would have to ask someoen on here who is also a doctor. we could be tired all the time or it could be the diabetes there is no sure way to figure that out.

idk honestly. but i've heard 1 friend say she has the same problem and another whose man has diabetes but is fine in the budoir.
maybe it varies or has to do with medication.

No, diabetes certainly increases the chances of impotence, but it is not nearly 100%.

My father's had diabetes since before I was born.

Either he's using it as an excuse, or his blood sugar needs to be controlled better.

Well it can be treated
