Can a 50 yr old adult male in avg health, get diabetes by eating sugar and foods that are high in carbohydrate

if there are no signs of it beforehand and no indications that he has it, can either of those two things precipitate or bring it on?

with absolutely avg blood sugar levels

No. Eating sugar and carbs will NOT bring on diabetes. Neither will being overweight. Both types of diabetes are caused by the pancreas not working properly. Eating too much sugar and carbs can cause you to gain weight.

Eating sugary foods or high carb foods does not cause Type 2 diabetes. Neither does it precipitate it, or bring it on.

Type 2 diabetes is associated with overweight, lack of exercise and poor eating habits in general, as well as a genetic component. In other words, perhaps eating too many sugary foods can contribute. This doesn't mean that it is unhealthy to have dessert or pasta. If you lucked out in the genes department you can overdose and not get it. If you didn't luck out you can be the perfect eater and still get it.

No one can say for sure if an individual will develop the disease, and having no signs at 50 is great, but doesn't mean you are immune.

If you eat a healthy diet, get exercise, watch your alcohol consumption. and are not overweight you can stop worrying. If there is a family predisposition towards diabetes then you may get it (you also may not). It is worth having a check at the doctors every couple of years or so the same as checking your blood pressure and cholesterol.

Eating sugars or high carbohydrate foods does NOT cause diabetes in anyone!!

If the person is healthy, has normal A1c reading, has good blood pressure, and good cholesterol levels, they should not get anything as expensive or time consuming as diabetes.
