Diabetes, summer weather?

During the summer it is typically more difficult to determine if I'm going low (the warmer weather mask symptoms). I'm my vision is blurry by the time I realize that I went to 50.

* any tips?

We will dismiss any thumbs down as they are inappropriate and unwarranted.

Thank you kindly for your answers.

stick to life style modification ( do more sport, measure your blood sugar more, avoid stress, if your smoker try to reduce it ).

I seem to have the same trouble. I think it is due to being more active and that maybe by the time you know it's low it's lower than it usually is during other seasons because your more distracted by summer activities. Being active can lower your blood sugar and on top of that your diabetes meds or insulin. ( you didn't tell us what type of diabetes you have) Best tip I can give you is to be prepared with glucose tabs and test more often to try and catch it early. But don't let it interfere with your summer fun, just work in more tests.

One thing to remember about the summer time is to stay hydrated. Too much sun can be bad for a diabetic. But for your question, you might need to add a snack at that time of day your having trouble with, if it happens to be a certain time of day or try to check your sugar more often. See if there is a pattern in the time of day. Be careful and let people be aware of your diabetes, such as wear a medical bracelet or necklace.

I understand what your going threw, unfortuantly ive had this same problem over and over except instead of my vision blurring my eyes want to roll into the back of my head lol. I carry around small packs of crackers with me, small juice boxes raisins etc. This way something is in my system at all times and if I know im going to be exercising or in the heat I defintly check my sugar constantly and keep eatng small amounts of things. Even a 2 or 3 peanut butter crackers should do to keep your sugars elevated without going over board especially if your going to be in the heat. Theres also a new gatorade type of drink called G2, and it has very low carbs and very low sugar and even that would help your sugar and your body stay hydrated, they also dont taste bad at all. Hope my answer helped :-)

stay away from things that make your blood sugar drop (alcohol, stress and what) check your blood sugar more often and make sure to keep a hard candy or something really surgary nearby.

i have the same problem so i have been checking my sugar about 10 or 12 times a day

Check your sugar more often.
