Body shape & diabetes?

I read an article a long time ago that said that women with a certain body shape are more likely to get diabetes. But I can't remember exactly what it said. Has anyone heard of this?

Yes. Fat around the belly is an indicator and more importantly a major contributor of type 2 diabetes. Both men and women suffer from this.

supposedly those with apple shaped bod are more apt to get diabetes than those with pear shape.

But!!! that means if you are looking at a delicious apple that you are top heavy with little hips! If you are looking at a Granny Smith apple it means you are larger around the waist than either bust or hips.

and if the apple is hanging on the tree it means that pears are really large in the waist and hips with really small busts.

The whole theory sounds like a lot of hooey to me.

I have had a good hour glass shape for most of my life. and according to the fruit theory I shouldn't have gotten diabetes!!!
