Hypoglycemia without diabetes?? |
I was just wondering if you could have hypoglycemia without diabetes because I may have hypoglycemia but I don't have diabetes. Yes. My grandmother has hypoglycemia. Basically the way it works is that the pancreas overreacts to the presence of sugar in the blood and releases too much insulin, which causes a "crash". This typically happens after one takes in simple sugars. That is why a diet high in complex carbohydrates and proteins is recommended. Yes I have hypoglycemia but not diabetes. I am able to control mine with diet and have tested normal for several years . I avoid proccessed sugars and other foods. I eat only whole grains lean meats, nuts and beans as well as an assortment of fruit and veggies. As a treat I enjoy dark chocolate too. Hypoglycemia is it's own disease. You have to make sure you eat small, frequent meals to keep your sugar up - diabetics have to keep theirs down so they use insulin to control that. |
