Get off of diabetes?

I would like to know how can you get off from diabetes ? My mom walks around the yard almost everyday and my grandma can walk a little .. can one of them get off of diabetes ?

There is no cure for diabetes at this time. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is doing research in hopes of finding cures for both type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Many different approaches to curing diabetes are being studied, and researchers are making progress.

he best way to prevent diabetes is to make some lifestyle changes:

* Maintain a healthy weight. Being overweight raises your risk for diabetes. Calculate your Body Mass Index (BMI) to see if you're at a healthy weight. If you're overweight, start making small changes to your eating habits by adding more whole grain foods, fruits, and vegetables. Start exercising more, even if taking a short walk is all you can do for now. If you're not sure where to start, talk to your doctor.

Eat healthy.

o Eat lots of whole grains (such as whole wheat or rye bread, whole grain cereal, or brown rice), fruits, and vegetables.
o Choose foods low in fat and cholesterol. Read food labels. If you eat 2,000 calories per day, you should eat no more than 56 grams of fat each day.
o Limit your salt intake to less than 2,300 mg (about 1 teaspoon of salt) each day.
o If you drink alcohol, limit it to no more than one drink (one 12-ounce beer, one 5-ounce glass of wine, or one 1.5-ounce shot of hard liquor) a day.

Get moving. Try to exercise for at least 30 minutes most days of the week. Some suggestions:

o Take the stairs instead of the elevator.
o Take a brisk walk on your lunch break.
o Park at the far end of the parking lot and walk.
o Get off the bus or subway a few stops early and walk the rest of the way.
o Walk or bicycle whenever you can.

Ok number 1 question are they type 1 or 2 diabetic???
If they are type one diabetic then there is no cure they have to manage as best they can with insulin.
If they are type 2 exercise will help but walking around the yard will not do anything. They have to follow a strict diet eating well is important there are a lot of natural herbs that can bring down blood sugar and vigorous exercise and weight loss they are all important.
But no u have to live with diabetes there is no "cure"

You can't "get off" from diabetes. It is good that your mom is walking around the yard almost everday and that your grandma walks a little. Diabetes is a liveable condition or disease and it should be uppermost in your mind to make sure your diet is full of high fiber, low carbs, lean protein and lots of vegetables. I am saying this because the chances of you having diabetes is quite great because your mother and grandmother have it. Be sure to get plenty of exercise also.

First the question should be IS you mom or grandmother a diabetic? You can't run or even walk from it you have to face it head on and treatment is the only way to LIVE with it.
I'm not sure what you are asking, if it's "Can you stop being a diabetic?" Sorry the answer is no, But you can treat it and it can get (Well not better) but you can stop the progression of the diease into blindness, heart failure, kidney failure, and death.
Good Luck and get an education in diabetes for your family!

Diabetes isn't like a sore arm that will heal with exercise. It is a serious, life threatening disease that does most of its damage deep inside where no one can see it. You can't just stop being diabetic. Once it's there, it's there for life.
