My mother has diabetes? |
She lives in Texas I live in California. I talked her yesterday and she said her legs are very red from her ankles to her knees and has like a purple spot (big) on her legs and some of her toes have turned black she said it hurts so bad that she has to use her Cain to walk around her house. Does this mean that she can loose her legs? Wow, she needs medical help NOW, as in get to the ER. Could be a diabetic foot infection, as blood flow is very poor in the lower extremities for diabetics. I'm concerned this infection could go systemic and be lethal, make sure she gets help immediately. it is a good possibility. my grandmother had the same thing happen to her, i lived several hours from her at the time so i called the local police dept in her town and told them and they picked her up took her to the hospital. then i got in the car and drove to be with her. She ended up losing one leg right below the knee but if they catch it in time it can be treated. Hope this helps and good luck to you and your mother. Sounds like she is having circulation problems. If she hasn't already, she needs to get to the dr ASAP! If this goes untreated for a long time(and it sounds like it already has!) she could lose her legs. Insist on her getting to the dr It could, she needs to get to a doctor ASAP. It sounds like her circulation is not working properly. If you know someone who can get her there, call them right now. |
