For people who have diabetes, what do you find hardest about it?

For people who have diabetes, what do you find hardest about it?

This would depend on who you are asking. We are all individuals and we all have our own barriers to cross. Are you asking about Type I or Type II diabetes?

As a Type I diabetic for close to 33 years now, there are numerous things that have been "hard", on the other hand, I don't know life any different because I was diagnosed at the age of 6.

The most annoying thing to me is when people tell me what I can and can't eat (especially when they tell me I can't eat sugar - OH NO - TABOO - that's bs!!)

Yea, the whole oh you can't eat that and here have this instead of having what everyone else is having! Also when you change your basal or something, having to wake up every night at 4 isn't fun. But other then that, I do quite like it, measuring food is annoying, and hypo's feel disgusting, but it could be lots worse.

i agree with teeners that does annoy me,

i also have type 1,
my hardest challenge is keeping my blood glucose target from 80-140.
i have to watch what i eat, calculate the carb intake and measure how much insulin should i be giving my self if i give myself too much i go low and too little i go high

I can never forget that I'm a diabetic.

I have to live with it 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for the rest of my life. There is no cure and this is a killer disease.

I saw my grandmother die horribly from the complications.

The fear of that keeps me on my toes.

There is NO vacation from being a diabetic.

Knowing that it will never end. That I'll be a diabetic and that NOT dealing with it will lead to complications and an early death. I HAVE to think about it every day.

No escape from the constant pressure.

Thinking about it 24-7
Checking your levels
what to eat,when to eat
take medication

also hearing are you eating again? or eating that?

that I can't eat when I want or when I'm hungry if my diabete is high
