Question about DIABETES, please?

Do diabetes sufferer lose much weight; let's say over 60 pounds in about two years? Or year and a half??? Is weight gained back always or not in all cases?

Is there sometimes thyroid problems reported along with first signs of diabetes?

Undiagnosed diabetes often results in weight loss, because without enough insulin, the body cannot metabolize sugar (energy) properly, and it starts munching on fat cells searching for energy. Once treatment has started, the weight will come back on. Type 1's have a higher than normal incidence of thyroid issues, but not necessarily at diagnosis, just at some point during their lives. Once you have one gland problem, you're at greater risk for others.

What are the symptoms of diabetes?
People who think they might have diabetes must visit a physician for diagnosis. They might have SOME or NONE of the following symptoms:

Frequent urination
Excessive thirst
Unexplained weight loss
Extreme hunger
Sudden vision changes
Tingling or numbness in hands or feet
Feeling very tired much of the time
Very dry skin
Sores that are slow to heal
More infections than usual.
Nausea, vomiting, or stomach pains may accompany some of these symptoms in the abrupt onset of insulin-dependent diabetes, now called type 1 diabetes.
