My dad has type II diabetes and is getting tested soon..? |
How can he reduce the level of sugar in his URINE, not blood/kidneys? Will cranberry juice flush it out? And does anyone know of anything else that will help him before he gets the test done? Please help!!!! =] First of all, the sugar level in your urine is not separate from the sugar level in your blood. If one is high, the other will be high as well. It's not something that can be flushed out of the system like alcohol or drugs; the only thing that can lower his blood sugar is insulin. If your dad's blood sugars aren't high in the blood there will be little to no sugar in his urine. It's when the sugars are high in the blood that some can be released in the urine to get it out of the body. If your dad is getting a HbA1C test, the results are the average percentage for the last 90 days. You cannot affect the results overnight. Jill P ! |
