3 months ago i started using a pump after 32 years with diabetes. now, i no longer have any energy ? why ?

i actually felt better when my bg was higher than controlled as it is now. i am weak and tired. what can i eat or do to restore my strength and energy.

Honestly, it sounds like you might be becoming insulin resistant like us type twos. Too much insulin can do that. The fix is, eat more fruits and veggies. Chances are, you're not getting enough vital minerals like potassium and magnesium. Supplements don't come close to doing the job that the nutrients in natural foods do. I think if you try this, you'll see what I mean.

I've had the same problem, except I've only had diabetes for 11 years. I think its because the pump constantly puts insulin in your body and your not putting it in when you need it. When your body gets used to having constant high blood sugars, and then suddenly drops to normal levels it takes a huge toll on your body. I've never figured out why either. But I think its because you got so used to the highs that now you've dropped your body has to adjust again. Same as mine did. Its taken me years and my body still hasnt adjusted to normal sugars. Maybe you should ask your doctor about it if your really concerned about it.

I think your body is still getting used to more near normal blood sugars. Although 3 months is quite a while to still be getting used to it. It didn't take me that long. Are you sure you are not having to many lows or highs? If your basals aren't right and your having a lot of bouncing around then you will feel tired and weak. I'd check your blood sugars a lot for a couple days and make sure they are right on and then go from there. Don't give up, better control is better for you down the road than not making changes because it's hard. You can get through this and you will.

I have been with my pump for 5 years, I have been a diabetic for 21 years. My doctor places me a couple of days in the hospital while my body got used to the pump and the basal levels were found. Maybe you need more monitoring of your basals? ask your doctor. I never felt tired or anything, your glucose levels might be dropping and that would make you fell like that.

it is actually your body adjusting to the lower blood sugars....it may take a while to adjust, it varies for different people, try taking a mulitvitamin daily and make sure your blood sugars are not getting to low.
