Is hypoglycemia like diabetes?

I know they're not totally alike, but I read up on it and still dont undertand the differance.

is it kinda like type 1 and type 2?

Both hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia are parts of diabetes. Hyperglycemia is when you have very high blood sugar levels. Hypoglycemia is low blood sugar levels and is usually a side affect of diabetic medication.

Normal blood sugar levels are say, 80-110.
Hypoglycemia means "low sugar" and the blood sugar level might be 32. That's very low and dangerous.
If the blood sugar is 160, then it is hyperglycemia, or "high sugar", which is also dangerous.
They are the opposites of each other. The body likes to be maintained at around 80-90....so going way up is bad, and going way down is equally bad.

hypoglycemia means that you have extremely low levels of blood sugar.
hyperglycemia means extremely high. (which most people often just refer to as diabetes; but diabetes could also mean low blood sugar levels)

Its a side effect of medication for diebetes
