Cramps in type one diabetes! URGENT! |
My dad has type one diabetes and he got it in his early forties, which is unusual, because you usually get it when you are a kid. My dad never ate too much sugar and has a very balanced diet with excersize so I was wondering if anyone knew how to help these horrible cramps that are assosiated with diabetes type 1. P.S. The cramps are unbearable, he is a grown man and he almost crys when he gets them! thanks matt I have type 2 and I know the cramps can be horrible. The doctor told me lots and lots of water if we are short on water then our muscles cramp up. But if that doesnt help then please get him to get reffered to see a nurolegest as it affects our nerves and muscles so badly... Hope it helps..also haveing baths in epsom salts takes toxins out of muscles and sooths them.. you can give that a try for him as well. That is really strange to get type 1 in your 40's but I guess it's possible. The cramps may have nothing to do with his diabetes, especially if he takes good care of it. Tell him to get more calcium in his diet. Sounds like they are more like muscle spasms then cramps. I get them all the time and I'm a type 1 diabetic and I asked my doctor about it - he said it had nothing to do with my diabetes. I'd still have him check with his doctor though. I take calcium and magnesium and zinc capsules. |
