Please help!!! My husband has diabetes... his sugar level in the morning is between 200 and mid 300...? |
He was diagnosed about 2 yrs ago and has been having sharp pains in his legs and recently started having them in one of his hands. What can we do? I do not want to be a widow. Real simple. Stop with the crappy diet and insufficient exercise. Learn all you can about taking care of it and make sure he learns it also. I no longer take any medication at all after five years of the disease and taking meds for it. Do this to control the diabetes first. my dad has diabetes and my husband is border line what you need to do is but him on a diet right a way its going to be hard at first but once he starts to feel good he will be fine if he is taking meds make sure he is taken the right start to go for walks, walks are good they help burn the sugar and help the blood flow no more eggs your going to want to use egg beaters the yoke is bad also make sure blood pressure is doing good to if you want to talk more about what to make him to eat or anything about it you can always e-mail me He needs to figure out a way to manage the glucose at night - maybe getting up once or twice in the night to inject insulin, or maybe use one of the newer insulin pumps that automatically monitor and manage glucose. If he doesn't presently get much exercise, a relaxing 15- 20 minute walk after dinner with your husband can help stabilize glucose levels. He will have to go to the gp so that he can be perscribed some medication. However, this is not enough, he will have to lay off sugary foods and drink (you can get diabetic foods such as diabetic chocolate). Also exercise is very important. Get his blood sugar under control, its too high. He iss having damage to the small nerves in his feet/hands from long standing high blood sugar. He needs a better diet and probably more diabetes meds, maybe even insulin if nothing else works. there should be a level where he is suppose to call his doctor.. my moms was at 367 today. She has got has high as 426. Just call your doctor or by now hopefully you did. Moms usually runs high. But high can be a scarey thing. GOOD LUCK! Has he been seeing his doctor and following the correct diet and taking his medicine if prescribed? He should see an endocrinologist for his diabetes care. Well his blood sugars are not under control st all!!! He is probably developing Neuropathy and really needs to get those numbers down. See the Dr. and get a better plan to get his diabetes under control. Is he under a doctor's care? He may have to give himself insulin shots. Ask the Dr. what to do to control his sugar level. Easy answer. Get the diabetes under control...Talk to a doctor soon. u better start going to an emergency room! like right now! this is no place for diagnosis! i think you need to talk to his nurse after all its his life. Don't believe everything you read on YA |
