and how do people get them? and y dont they go away? You have gotten some good answers but I disagree with one answer, someone needs more medical training Diabetes is a condition brought about by the decreased insulin production or the inability of of the body's cells to use insulin properly. Diabetes mellitus (DM) refers to a group of common disorders that is characterized by increased blood glucose levels-hyperglycemia. Several types of diabetes exist and are caused by interaction of genetics and environmental factors. Insulin, a hormone is secreted by a gland in the body called pancreas. Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is needed to convert sugar, starches and other food into energy needed for daily life. The cause of diabetes continues to be a mystery, although both genetics and environmental factors such as obesity and lack of exercise appear to play roles. I've been diabetic for 2 years. I'm 14 and was diagnosed when i was 12... its when your pancrease stops working and it cant control blood sugar levels it doesnt go away cause ur pancrease is a organ and if ur kidney or somethin stopped working would it be able to just start working if someone have high blood glucose more than normal cause damage pancreas or resistencyinsulin...see more detail http://www.diabetes.fat-site.com |
