How does lsd affect diabetes

and also i heard that it raises blood sugar, and if it does how much does it raise it

If you're otherwise healthy, it's nothing to worry about. You'll be sane/competent enough to test your blood and compensate for about an hour after you start and you should be back to reality within 4-6 hours. Ideally you'd have a trip sitter to watch you, but since no one has ever died or suffered a serious injury from this (we'd know), I'd say the danger is low if you're comfortable in dealing with your condition. Just put away sharp objects for take off and go with the flow.

I didn't find any great data on the subject (but I'm sure it's out there), but this is relevant and seems accurate:

- Acid/LSD had no effect on my bloody sugar levels. A lot of diabetics who take acid tend to omit their insulin intake for the trip, my advice : DON'T! Take your insulin (maybe a few less units) eat a healthy meal, and carry sweets/sugar/coke throughout the trip. I realize that the thought of a hypo while under the influence of LSD isn't very pleasant, however your insulin intake is essential in avoidance of DKA.
- While you are tripping you generally loose your appetite, a good idea is to drink sugar filled drink, such as coke/pepsi to keep your sugars up.
- It is better to have short term high blood sugar than low blood sugar, and a lot less stressful.

Now I am not a pride, but I know that diabetics have to be particularly careful when it comes to drug use. The main added risk in diabetes is hypoglycemia being mistaken by you or others as part of the 'trip'.

I know that there has been some research done to see if LSD and other drugs can help with diabetes, but not enough has been done yet.

My brother is diabetic and tends to be hypoglycemic and when he does get this way, it does seem like he's drunk. Some of his own friends have left him for hours thinking he was just trippin' until I showed up and had to shovel chocolate syrup and orange juice into his mouth. It was very scary.

Be safe and don't try it. Your health is more important than experiencing a high.
