Diabetes and stiff feet?

I've had type 1 Diabetes for 21 years.

Just recently, my feel and ankles have been "stiff." They aren't swollen. They simply feel stiff, no pain. I can walk, but I kind hobble (especially in the AM), but mostly all day.

Yes, I'll talk with my doctor, but until then....do anybody know anything about this?

Diabetes effects your circulation - meaning that your extremities such as feet could start to become 'numb' - this is why it is recommended that diabetics do not cut their own toe-nails, as you may not be aware that you have cut yourself because your feet are numb.

It sounds a little harsh but this is 'normal' for diabetics. But i would definetly recommend speaking with your doctor as soon as.

WOW you have had T1 for 21 years and just now feeling it in your feet! I think I felt mine the first year! Good for you you must take very good care of the T1! Yes do see a doctor but until then... its pretty normal to feel the aches and pains and stiffness in both arms and legs. It could be nerve damage or maybe just your blood sugars have been high lately? leep them warm and use diabetic socks. I wear then even at night, because I can't tell if they are cold or hot!
Good Luck
