My mom thinks i may have diabetes

my dad had it. my eye sight is pretty bad, i went to the doc in january for a new prescription on my contacts and already i am seeing my vision get a little blurry, but it only happens at certain times. im tired alot, and sometimes i eat a ton, then others i dont eat much at all. i wouldn't say i drink a lot, but i always have AT LEAST 2 glasses of a beverage whenever i go to a restaurant. should i get a blood test by my doctor to check for diabetes? or am i just being a hypochondriac?

you are having a lot of the symtoms that go with diabetes blurry vision, tiredness, and excessive drinking (these are the big ones) even if you dont have it it wouldnt hurt at all to get tested.

Its better if you do, because if you do have it you can get treated and go on to live a normal life and if you dont then you will know for sure and once again lead a normal life.

It wouldn't hurt to get a blood test. A doctor who suspects diabetes will order a series of tests because the same symptoms can be caused by lots of things.

If you know someone who is diabetic, he would have a blood glucose meter and would probably be happy to test you. That can't prove you have diabetes but can rule it out. It's really a painless test, it just takes a tiny speck of blood from your arm.

It's hard to say if you have diabetes because you don't have a ton of the symptoms but that isn't always the case in every person with it especially in the beginning. If your mom thinks you have it and you have thought you may as well the best thing to do is to get tested. Your not being a hypochondriac for wanting to be sure your in good health.

diabetes is not genetic so the fact that your dad had it doesnt mean you could have it too. Your symptoms dont sound like you have diabetes. The most common symptoms are excessive thirst and urination. two glasses of a beverage at a resturaunt is not unusual. go to your doc and tell him ur symtoms and have them test ur blood sugar just for the heck of it.

to be healthy
dont stress yourself
eat regularly and healthy natural food
exercise regulary and daily
dont smoke or drink high calories or alcoholic drinks
