WHy is Diabetes so out of control ? So many people diagonsed every day ? We need a Cure?

I hear of so many young people beign diagosed with type 1 diabetes
Im sorry but this does suck .. No your life is not over , but with the daily injections , diet controll , can you even go out for a slice of pizza
with your friends .. ?? Type 2 I understand more ,I am one , and being
over weight and not enough activity , I know the reason , and amworking on it . Type 1 actaully makes me mad , stupid huh?
Children teengagers diagnoed with this disease is not only painful because of injections , but are limited on so many foods that as a
youg person enjoyed , I don't remember going to school with anyone
that had diabetes , Please tell me what , and how do you handle this
during the day at school ..
My heart goes out to each and every one of you that deal with this
on a daily basis .. We need a cure for this ! And hopefully soon

I hope for a cure as well. I believe that the problem is too many convenience foods i am talking frozen foods they are so loaded with chemicals and fat and salt, eating out too much, this day and age kids are not active because they are in playing video games and not going out and playing.

When I was a kid this wasn't a problem either, but Mom or Dad cooked, they cooked real food not the frozen foods, eating out was a treat, we played outside, we didn't have video games and we didn't have computers, and a lot of times moms didn't have to work so we weren't latch key kids that came home and threw something in the microwave. Mom had something good waiting for us usually a peanut butter sandwich and milk or an apple.
Today's parents seem to be too busy to cook good meals and today's kids are too busy with the computers and video games and have no interest in riding bikes or whatever the case may be. What happened to tag and hide and go seek? Those were games that encouraged excercise.

You are correct. Vital funding and modern research will someday cure the dreaded Type 1 form of diabetes that inflicts more young children each day. Fortunately, the new administration is heading in the right direction by allowing federal funds to be used for stem cell research which holds the most promising therapies and possible cures for a variety of horrific diseases.

im 15, ive been a type one since i was 11, we can eat WHAT EVER we like, as long as we correctly cover it with insulin, though we do have a limit on some things, we can live a normal life.beleive me,the last thing we want is people to mourn over us,but it does feel good to know someone cares,

were all hoping for a cure, untill then we have to deal with it and try to live a normal life

i know different people have different opinions about this, but stem cell research could be he cure.

basically diabetes is when the pancreas doesn't work properly, using stem cells "could" fix this by replacing dead cells in the organ.

but stem cells can be obtained from bone marrow instead of a fetus so its not that bad.

At the moment that seems to be the only possible way for a permanent cure for diabetes.

Look it up in google to find more details.

You are nowhere near alone. More than 28 million people have been diagnosed with Diabetes. This does not even include those who have it and not diagnosed. There is an effort to among other things, to obtain one million signatures on a Global petition. Send an email to:

And you can join this effort here on Yahoo Groups.

God Bless

I am a type one and in Illinois i am one of the youth ambassadors helping spead the word :D

I couldn't agree with you more. My two year old son was diagnosed with type 1 a little over a month ago.

It breaks my heart that he will never be able to have one of those nights with his friends where he stuffs himself with pizza and ice cream. I hate every single time when he runs from me crying because he knows I am about to prick his finger.

I am very grateful that it is just diabetes though. I thank God my son doesn't have cancer or something like that. At least he can still lead a pretty normal life, and he'll probably be more healthy than most people.

LOL Displaced anger. If you needed glasses, would you be angry because there are blind people, too? Aren't the blind limited in the "normal life" activities non blind people take for granted (and much more severely than a diabetic)?

Just because you don't remember going to school with a type 1 doesn't mean there wasn't somebody. As kids, we tend to not notice such things, but as we get older we pay more attention (like the news). Plus, many diabetics do not "advertise" their condition because others do not understand.

My type 1 friends actually have more freedom in what they eat than I do as a type 2. And there really isn't more type 1 children, if you account for the fact that there are more people, the statistical occurrence is the same now as it was twenty years ago.

Try using your displaced anger on something far more urgent, like the danger of epidemic disease rising from poor sanitary conditions in the food industry (bird flu, mad cow, swine flu). We have successful treatments for diabetes. Do we have one yet for Ebola?

Personally, I love pizza.

I'm 24, been diabetic ! since i was 9, and i've got 1 13 month old daughter.

I've worked as a Ski Instructor in the USA and Europe, I've been heli-skiing, I am an accomplished ballerina, piano player, and i make the best lasagna ever, according to my husband.

We're not limited on foods, the injections aren't painful.

Thank you for the concern, but it really is misplaced. There are millions of children that actually have diseases that completely wipe out their daily life.

People should concentrate on curing things like cystic fybrosis before diabetes. It sucks, but honestly, it's not that bad!!

type 1 for 4 years!!! lol. thank u 4 caring and saying such kind words=D. many people have said there should b a cure in our lifetime, so0 hopefully soon. Diabetes stinks but i guess u just get used 2 it after a while. it just becomes a normal everyday thing. whenever i go 2 amusement parks (disney, six flags etc.) i get a special pass to go in the front of the line, its a medical pass. So when eva i go 2 those places every1 wants 2 go with me cause i don't have 2 wait on line. lol. That's ONE good thing about diabetes. Ya, diabetes isn't fun, but there is a lot worse out there. Thanks and good luck 2 u with type 2. God Bless : ]]
i agree with i haz answrz鈾? 100% :]]
