Diabetes type 2 Q?

my mom is on insulin and on medication because she has diabetes. she's worried of getting a stroke. She's taking her medicines properly and on time. How else can she prevent it from happening? Ever since she came back from the hospital, she has maintained her suger level to normal.

If her blood pressure is good, and her sugar level is normal, she is fine. An aspirin a day, if not contraindicated, may help to alieve her anxiety of a stroke.

SHe needs to walk regularly, not sit in one position for long periods of time, breathe deeply and not worry so much, Source(s): nurse practitioner
Take some basic nutritional supplements, and exercise regularly. Just some 30-45 minute walks, either on a treadmill or around the block or neighborhood, works wonders. Avoid alcohol, if she drank it regularly. A glass of wine once in awhile is OK. Make sure she keeps her blood pressure in check too. Bottomline, she needs to keep her circulation going good. Drink a cup of Green Tea (without any milk) and sweeten with honey every day or night. That will go a long way in maintaining her health and losing weight if she needs to. She will also want to get her good cholesterol up to over 60-70 and maintain her overall cholesterol too. There are many things, that need to be monitored now. Diet and exercise go a long way when you are Diabetic. It is very managable if you want to be healthy and stay that way, but don't get lazy, it will come back to haunt you. Good Luck.
