What is the cause of the increasing prevalence of diabetes?

There is a consistent link between obesity (lack of exercise and unhealthy diets) and type 2 diabetes. Looking around you , the noticeable increase of obese people has a natural following of an increase of diabetics. Exercise and a healthy diet are the best preventatives. Modest eating, rather than overindulging. Check out the Harvard link. Source(s): http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsou...

obesity, poor diet, and reproducing gene pool
Probably the major cause is obesity and our tendency as a society to eat whatever, whenever.
obesity....is probably the main reason.
The super size effect, and we are getting lazier every day.(I am Diabetic.)
Obesity of course, and insulin. What you say? Insulin allows more diabetics to live longer, and to pass the tendency on to their children.
