Can i get pregnant if i have type 1 diabetes ? |
Can i get pregnant if i have type 1 diabetes ? I was diagnosed last May at age 33 with diabetes. I was put on pills for control, and then in Sept. I found out I was pregnant. My family dr. immediately put me on insulin until I could see an OB and an Endocrinologist. If you do become pregnant, make sure you have an OB that is for high risk pregnancies. My OB has taken very good care of me, she has sent me for tests, to make sure my little baby girl is doing ok, I am now 34 weeks and go weekly to the dr. and do non stress fetal monitoring. Also I have better control of my diabetes than before I was pregnant because of the risks involved. I am on an insulin pump now. Good luck Yes..... unless you are male...-l- yes my sis has it and had 2 kids by Cesarean it is high risk and the sugar must be monitored \4 times a day I have type 1 and i'm a male and i say yes u can unless u a guy yes. Most type 1 diabetics can. It does depend on your specific history, but it is very important that you get preconceptual counseling. What matters most is that you keep in excellent control of your blood sugar level during and leading up to pregnancy. what is wanted is much better than 'close enough'. Also, there is a tendency for levels to be harder to manage during pregnancy so you will be followed quite closely. Of course you can, you can if you have type 2 also. That has nothing to do with it. Yes, of course. My mother has type 1 diabetes and had my youngest sister 5 years after she was diagnosed. |
