What's the difference between type 1 and 2 Diabetes M.? In Type 1, your body doesn't produce enough or even any insulin to keep the glucose (sugar) in your blood regulated. It can develop any time in a person's life, although most often it happens in younger people. In Type 2, your body might make insulin, but your body no longer does what it should with the glucose (sugar) in your blood. It can develop any time in a person's life, although most often it happens in adults who are overweight and sedentary. One is adult onset and the other is juvenile onset type 1 have to take the shots type 2 can controll with pills and diet Easy- Type 1 (Juv) although you can get in as late as 30-- your body does not make any insulin.... you must inject insulin to survive. Type 2- age onset, overweight...etc- usually can control with diet and pills your body still produces insulin. Type one diabetics pancreas has shut down and they do not produce insulin at some point, there is a honeymoon phase that they produce just little. So type 1 are insulin dependent, can happen young or old contrary to belief! Type Two your body makes insulin but it is not effectively used eventually most type 2 people end up getting shots also and then are called type 1.
