Reasone for the name change from juvenile and late onset diabetes to type 1 and type 2?

i have heard on the news that type 2 is showing up more and more in juveniles
Type 1 was showing up in people older than typical kids and youngsters were getting Type 2 as they are eatting unhealthy and are obese. They changes it to make it easier for the newer diagnosed people to understand.
I wasn't diagnosed with type 1 diabetes till I was 23, so calling it juvenile would be inappropriate.
I've been diabetic since I was 3. I've got type one "juvenile" diabetes. The difference is,type one is not something you get due to not eating right or weight gain, it's something you can't prevent, usually occurs very early and most often is genetic. Type 2 is late onset,as one gets older and doesn't eat as healthy, doesn't require insulin, the pancreas isn't producing enough insulin.Where as in type 1,the pancreas doesn't produce ANY insulin
Actually, I rarely ever hear type 1 or type 2 anymore. Now most people (in my profession)say Insulin dependent diabetes (IDDM) or non-insulin dependent diabetes (NIDDM).
I think the reason why they are changing the way they look at that is because when someone is diagnosed with diabetes, you don't really know how long they have had it, just that they have it now.
For example, my cousin found out his blood sugar was 800+ on the night before his wedding. He was 24 years old. He could have had diabetes many years before that, (or something suddenly went haywire) and was never diagnosed because the body has a funny way of acclimating itself to changes.
