I need info on MRSA infection in a person with diabetes.? MRSA = medication resistant staph aureus Staph Aureus is a kind of bacteria, several strains of which are no longer killed by our usual regimens of antibiotics. Hence, 'medication resistant' (or some say, Methicillin resistant). In a person with diabetes, every disease condition is more dangerous and more complex. First, the stress of the condition is likely to make the diabetics blood glucose levels climb. Second, diabetic bodies are less able to fight off infections and heal wounds. The best things your friend can do (other than following doctor's orders) are maintain a good diet, with extra vitamin C and Zinc, and keep blood glucose levels under control. Where abouts is the MRSA located. I can help you if i know http://www.health.nsw.gov.au/health-publ... http://jac.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/conten... Melaleuca oil is proven to kill all 8 strains of MRSA. My son had a MRSA infection that antibiotics would not get rid of and this did. Plus in a diabetic Melaleuca oil will also speed the healing. MRSA is methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus Where: methicillin is name of antibiotic. Staphylcoccus aureus is name of a bacteria. MRSA is dangerous, because it represents infection by those types (strains) of S. aureus which are resistant to one of the good drugs, that is methicillin. These infections are treated by: Vancomycin +/- Gentamicin. If they dont respond, they are treated with: Quinupristin-Dalfopristin. (Synercid) The fact that patient is diabetic means the infection would be over-whelming. This means that we should: 1. Aggressively give the appropriate antibiotics. 2. Aggressively control his blood glucose. (High blood glucose is a good medium for any bacteria to grow and makes it hard to control any infection) I hope that this helps. Me doctor. |
